So wanted to bring you up to date since leaving Shreveport LA and said goodbye to the most HORRIBLE ROAD SYSTEM!!! Ok I won’t mention again. East Texas is beautiful all along the roads (and they are really nice) are fields and fields of wildflowers. Black-eyed Susan, Queen Anne’s lace, and pink, purple and red flowers. Couldn’t get a good enough look to tell what they were. We ended the day in Ardmore Oklahoma after crossing Texas via Dallas and US35. The KOA where we stay was very nice and clean. Very new the buildings were only about 3 years old and so the trees were small but in a couple of years they will be nice shade trees. We are now in Wellington not New Zealand but Kansas:-). We will stay until Sunday and then move north to Salina KS as we have a schedule to keep! First picture is By The Lake KOA campground. We had a pretty nice rain storm in the evening. Driving from Ardmore to Wellington was a very bad weather day. We even had to pull over in a parking area (they don’t seem to have rest areas around here) because the rain was so bad and people were just pulling to the side of the road so made driving dangerous.

Waiting for a train as we were heading to get back on the Interstate.

We spent today June7, 2019 in the little town of Wellington KS visiting the Panhandle Railroad Museum and the Chisholm Trail Museum. If you want more detail information you can look both of them up on the internet, but I would rather just show you pictures. We also ate at a very good Mexican food restaurant called Fabiola’s excellent Sopapillas more cake like than what you would find in the southwest.

Husband!

The Santa Fe railroad had a memorial for their employees that didn’t return from WWII
The railroad had a band that would march in parades all over the area.
When Dave & I lived in Japan we went to Korea for conferences many times. At one of these there was a doctor with a relief agency that went to North Korea regularly to take medicine and he brought back pictures of the health care facilities in the rural areas. The pictures above & below from the early 1900’s are better than what is in North Korea today!

Hubby has never found a gun or cannon he hasn’t loved!
